DONATIONS
MARTIN FLUX FUND
Martin Flux was a young enthusiastic member and Rear Commodore of the Shelley Sailing Club whose cheerful assistance and encouragement to junior sailors has been sadly missed since the tragic accident that took his life in 1988. Martin's family have since made several generous donations to the Shelley Sailing Club leading to the establishment of the Martin Flux Fund to support junior sailing and to remind members of the valuable contribution made by this popular young man. Over the past few years the fund has been used initially to purchase the new fibreglass Mudlark "Marty" then several secondhand Mudlarks for loan/resale to members and an inflatable dinghy to assist in the coaching of the junior fleet. Members are urged to support this important Club fund to whatever extent they are able.TROPHIES
Trophies are one of the more significant annual costs for the Club despite the valued efforts of a band of volunteers who assist in their production. Donations towards trophies are always welcome. If you wish to donate a trophy for a special event please contact the Rear Commodore Sailing.THE RON TOUGH YACHTING FOUNDATION
Ron Tough MBE during his many years in office with the Yachting Association of WA (YAWA) had often regretted the opportunities which were lost because of a lack of a ready source of funds. At Ron's retirement dinner in 1980 his friends decided to establish the Foundation as a mark of respect, with the aim of raising the standard of sailing in Western Australia. Ron made a very handsome initial contribution and the trustees have since increased the capital substantially. Over the years the fund has been used to provide rescue and training equipment, coaching and other assistance to many WA clubs and crews, including Shelley Sailing Club. The Trustees look for development of a technical idea, help to distant Clubs or to bring an overseas coach to WA and are always prepared to examine problems of urgent need. Members are urged to make a donation to this worthy cause. Donations of $2 or over are now tax deductible.
